The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Conemaugh river at Seward.
* From Friday morning to Sunday evening... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 8:45 PM Thursday the stage was 4.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and
continue to rise to near 16.1 feet by early Sunday morning. The
river will fall below flood stage by Sunday evening.

Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southwest Pennsylvania and west central
Pennsylvania... including the following areas... in southwest
Pennsylvania... Fayette and Westmoreland. In west central
Pennsylvania... Indiana.

* Through Sunday evening

* the National Weather Service continues to advise that small
streams now swollen from the continued snow melt may begin to
flood starting tonight. Periods of rain tonight into Sunday...
and in particular potentially widespread heavier rain
Saturday... will further increase the risk of flooding for
small streams as well as for points along the youghiogheny...
Conemaugh... and Kiskiminetas rivers and tributaries that
include Loyalhanna creek... Black Lick creek... Yellow Creek and
Two Lick creek.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts of snow melt and rainfall.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

* Flood Watch for
the Conemaugh river at Seward
* from Friday morning to late Sunday night.
* At 10:45 am Thursday the stage was 3.7 feet.
* Major flooding is possible.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Forecast... flood stage may be reached by Friday late morning.
